He Got Many Opportunities to Serve India: PM Modi on Jagdeep Dhankhar’s Resignation

adminBy adminJuly 22, 20252 Mins Read

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday praised Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar after his resignation from office, acknowledging his decades of service and commitment to the nation. “He got many opportunities to serve India, and he made the most of them with honesty and dedication,” the Prime Minister said, paying tribute to Dhankhar’s career spanning law, politics, and constitutional responsibility.

Dhankhar, who stepped down from the Vice President’s post citing personal reasons, has been a prominent figure in Indian public life. From being a lawyer at the Rajasthan High Court and Supreme Court to serving as Union Minister and later as the Governor of West Bengal, Dhankhar’s journey reflected “the strength of India’s democratic fabric,” said PM Modi.

The Prime Minister emphasized Dhankhar’s grounding in rural India and his continued efforts to represent the aspirations of farmers and the underprivileged. “Whether it was his parliamentary contributions or his time as Governor, his approach was rooted in India’s grassroots,” Modi noted.

Jagdeep Dhankhar’s resignation came as a surprise to many in political circles, though reports suggest it was a well-considered personal decision. Sources indicate he intends to spend more time with his family after decades in public service.

Political leaders across parties, including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, also lauded Dhankhar’s constitutional conduct and his ability to maintain balance and decorum during often turbulent Rajya Sabha sessions.

As discussions begin on Dhankhar’s successor, the legacy he leaves behind—of principled governance and measured leadership—will remain a benchmark for future Vice Presidents.
