Salman Khan’s nephew Ayaan on stage name Agni and fighting the nepotism tag

adminBy adminMarch 18, 20252 Mins Read

Ayaan Agnihotri, nephew of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, has recently launched his music career under the stage name ‘Agni’ with his debut single, ‘Universal Law’. The young artist, who serves as the singer, rapper, lyricist, and composer for the track, has opened up about the origins of his stage name and his perspective on the nepotism debate.

Agnihotri chose the moniker ‘Agni’ during his initial foray into writing music seven to eight years ago. He aimed to create a faceless persona to express his thoughts and feelings without attaching a specific identity. Drawing from his surname, he selected ‘Agni’, symbolizing the powerful element of fire. In hip-hop culture, ‘burn’ signifies excellence, aligning with his artistic aspirations. This persona allowed him to express aspects of himself that he might not have as Ayaan, providing a sense of liberation and freedom.

Addressing the topic of nepotism, Agnihotri remains unfazed by the label. He believes that the term is often taken out of context, noting that supporting one’s own family and friends has been a longstanding cultural practice. He points out that professions have historically been passed down within families, whether in royalty, business, or politics. To him, labeling this support as nepotism seems unfair, as it overlooks the cultural norm of familial support.

Growing up in a family deeply rooted in the arts, with relatives who are writers, directors, producers, actors, and fashion designers, Agnihotri found a supportive environment to pursue his passion for music. He emphasizes that his family encouraged him to focus on what makes him happy and to compete with himself to improve continually.

In his music career, Agnihotri seeks to balance his artistic identity while being part of a family with strong ties to Bollywood. He views his family as a group of artists, which makes the environment less intimidating and more supportive. He also shares a close bond with his grandfather, Salim Khan, whom he regards as a legend with a wealth of stories and wisdom.

As Agnihotri embarks on his musical journey, he remains focused on creating authentic art that resonates with his audience, aiming to carve out his own identity in the industry.
