    PM Modi says ‘Chhaava ki dhoom machi hui hai’ as he praises Vicky Kaushal film

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a speech at the 98th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan in New Delhi praising Vicky Kaushal’s film “Chhaava.” He emphasized the significant contributions that the states of Maharashtra and Mumbai have made to Indian cinema, stating, “It is Maharashtra and Mumbai that have elevated Hindi cinema along with Marathi films.

    Chhaava is also currently causing a stir. India’s Times The historical biopic “Chhaava,” which was released on February 14, 2025, is about the Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.

    The film is based on the Marathi novel “Chhava” by Shivaji Sawant. PM Modi acknowledged the novel’s contribution to highlighting Sambhaji Maharaj’s bravery, saying, “We have been introduced to the valour of Sambhaji Maharaj in this form through Shivaji Sawant’s Marathi novel.”

    The film has grossed over 300 crore rupees worldwide in its first week of release, according to the India Times, indicating its significant commercial success. Yesubai Bhonsale is played by Rashmika Mandanna, Aurangzeb is played by Akshaye Khanna, Soyarabai is played by Divya Dutta, Kavi Kalash is played by Vineet Kumar Singh, and Hambirrao Mohite is played by Ashutosh Rana. Zinat-un-Nissa Begum is played by Diana Penty.

    The creators of “Chhaava” thanked the Prime Minister for his acknowledgement, describing it as a “historic honor.” “It is a great moment of pride as Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji applauds Chhaava and honors Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s sacrifice and legacy,” they wrote on a video of PM Modi praising Chhaava that they shared on social media. At this point, our gratitude is overwhelming.”
