Shivling stolen from Dwaraka temple on Shivratri eve, scuba divers join search

adminBy adminFebruary 26, 20251 Min Read

In a distressing incident on the eve of Maha Shivratri, a sacred ‘Shivling’ was stolen from the centuries-old Shree Bhidbhanjan Bhavaneeshvar Mahadev temple in Gujarat’s Devbhumi Dwarka district. The theft has deeply unsettled the local community and devotees, especially given the temple’s proximity to the renowned Harsiddhi Mataji pilgrimage site.

The temple priest discovered the shocking theft when he found the Shivling uprooted from its base, which was later located on a nearby beach. All other temple artifacts remained undisturbed, suggesting a targeted act. Authorities have initiated a comprehensive search operation, deploying scuba divers to scour the adjacent seawaters amid concerns that the Shivling might have been discarded there. To expedite the investigation, multiple teams comprising the local crime branch, special operations group, local police, forensic experts, and a dog squad have been mobilized. An FIR has been registered under section 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for theft.
