    Why the Life Certificate Is Required

    A Life Certificate, also called a Jeevan Pramaan in digital form, is an official confirmation that the pensioner is alive. This helps the government ensure that pension funds are not wrongly disbursed.

    Every year, pensioners must provide this certificate so that the pension system remains accurate and transparent. Without this confirmation, banks and pension agencies cannot continue the payments.

    2. Use the Digital Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan)

    Many pensioners prefer the digital method because it avoids the need to visit a bank.

    You can get a Digital Life Certificate through:

    • Jeevan Pramaan Centres

    • Banks with biometric devices

    • Post offices

    • Common Service Centres (CSC)

    • Aadhaar-enabled devices at home (if you have a biometric scanner)

    1. Visit a Jeevan Pramaan Centre

    2. Provide your Aadhaar number and PPO number

    3. Provide a mobile number for OTP

    4. Use fingerprint or iris scan to verify identity

    5. Certificate is generated instantly and automatically sent to the pension authority

    You also receive an SMS confirmation with the Pramaan ID.

    3. Submit at the Post Office

    India Post now offers doorstep pension services. Postmen with biometric devices can visit your home to collect the Life Certificate.

    Process:

    • Book a service through the PostInfo app, IPPB app, or by calling your local post office

    • The postman visits your home

    • Biometric authentication is done

    • Certificate is submitted digitally

    This is one of the most convenient options for senior citizens who cannot travel.

    4. Doorstep Banking Services

    Several participating banks offer doorstep services for elderly and differently-abled pensioners.

    A bank representative visits the pensioner’s home to complete the process.

    What Happens If You Miss the Deadline?

    If you fail to submit the Life Certificate by 30 November, your pension will be temporarily stopped starting December.

    However, don’t panic—your pension is not lost. Once you submit the Life Certificate:

    • The pension gets reactivated

    • Pending pension for the months missed is released
